The Ski Museum is nominated for the National Museum of the Year award 2011
The Ski Museum in Holmenkollen, together with Glomdalsmuseet, Lofotr Viking Museum and Norsk Teknisk Museum are nominated for the National Museum of the Year award 2011. The winner will be announced on the evening of 25 August.
The world`s best snowboarders are coming to Holmenkollen
On the 17th of February there will be a spectacular Quarterpipe competition in Holmenkollen. The norwegian rider Terje Håkonsen will try to set a new world record in the highest air competition. The record is now on 9.8m !

What we can offer
In addition to a great view over Oslo from the top of the Jump Tower, we can offer two souvenir shops, a café and the Ski Simulator. Free parking and toilets.
The Association for the Promotion of Skiing and Oslo Municipality
Oslo Municipality is the owner of Holmenkollen. The Association for the Promotion of Skiing is responsible for the daily operation of Holmenkollen.
About the ski jump
The ski jump was officially opened on March 3rd ,2010 and can boast the title of the world’s most modern ski jump. The start house soars around 60 metres above the ground and the construction comprises 100 tons of steel.
Holmenkollen history
Ski jumping competitions have been held at Holmenkollen every year from 1892 to 2008. Holmenkollen is regarded as being among the three most famous sports arenas in the world. The ski jump has been re-developed on 18 previous occasions, the last time in preparation for the World Championships in 1982 .
